We decided it was time to have a weekend away, with no plans or obligations, and just enjoy our sweet little family of six. As the days and weeks have passed we have found ourselves growing tired and bit irritable with our current status of "flood evacuees". Now we know we aren't the only ones and that things could always be worse but with what he have been through the last year ourselves we were "done" last week. Just done. So we thought we better take advantage of the empty Waind cabin at Lake Metigoshe for a little family retreat :) A good friend told me that we can never fully understand another situation and that is just so true. This flood mess has caused extreme heartache and difficulties for so many people and it is unfortunate at times the rifts that it causes between friends and family. We can only feel empathetic for one another and must remember not to compare as with things like this it's just not a path that would lead anywhere good. So we took a weekend to ourselves to regroup and be thankful for each other. We are also extremely grateful for my aunt and uncle opening their home to us and all of our chaos and for all the help our parents and family provide for us during this time- we love you ALL!!! Now on to some pics :)
Brody was just a little excited to arrive at the cabin on Friday night!! This smile alone made all of the hard work that comes along with us packing up and getting out of town, worth it!
Brody had a lot of kisses to give~ he truly was a happy lake boy!
The boys were all smiles Saturday morning. One of the perks of being at the cabin is that we each have our own room! This allowed us to to give each other a "break" like we use to do when Brody was baby and sleep was scarce (so we thought!) So, Saturday morning Ben let me sleep in a bit while he got all the boys up, diapers changed and bottles warmed....heaven!! We can't do this on a regular basis since we don't have our own bedroom so I made sure to return the treat and let Ben sleep in Sunday morning :)
Riley-pants is a happy baby!
Didn't catch Evan with his big grin, but love this silly face too ;)
Sweet P is too dang cute!!!
Brody continues to be the best big brother and loves taking care of and entertaining his baby brothers.
It was a COLD and WINDY day but we really wanted to take a family walk so everyone got bundled up. I love these cute hats a sweet friend in Portland knitted for all 4 boys, each a little different. Evan sure does look BIG in this pic, haha!
The first half of the walk was very strenuous- not just from the wind but because our stoller tires desperately needed some air! We made it to the Marina and pulled the Quad stroller in to the garage for a tune-up ;)
It was like night and day- Ben couldn't help but run with the stroller after the wheels were plumped up! (We were literally both pushing the stroller at the same time huffing and puffing before!)
Our little fisherman Brody
They didn't catch any fish- but they sure had a good time!
Sunday morning came way too quick :( The boys were great and waited patiently while Ben and I cleaned up the cabin before heading out.
All packed up to head home....we are very fortunate to have had this time together but needed to head home early so we could celebrate a good friend Sunday night. The best part was that we went out BEFORE the boys went to bed! I think this is only the 2nd or 3rd time that at least one of us wasn't home to put the triplets to bed. We SO appreciate my mom coming over and taking it on! Perfect ending to a perfect weekend! xo
