Almost 4am

I feel as though I am stuck in a bad dream, a very horrible nightmare.
I layed down on the bed next to Evan to try and get some rest at about
2am. This was after hearing the results of the 1am xray of "no changes
or free air found in the abdomen" which means they would continue to
treat him medically without surgical intervention at this point. The
earlier imaging study showed no vulvulous but could not rule out
malformation which can cause a critical vulvulous at anytime. The goal
now is to keep him stable and will redo the exam later to determine if
he has malformation or not.

At about 3am I awoke to the RN calling for Dr. V (ped intensivist dr)
for help. Evan had choked on some vomit which caused his heart rate to
drop. They asked me to step outside as they needed the space to put
him on a ventilator. This was very hard for me to do and I only wish
that I had Ben here to hold me through this. I am so thankful that he
is strong enough to be at home taking care of Payton, Riley and Brody
though.

They just repeated the abdomen xr series and his intestines are still
stable but a chest xr does show some fluid in his right lung so they
will keep him medicated and allow the vent to work for him while he
has some time to rest and heal.

Evan is a strong big brother to P and R and I know he will amaze us
all and pull through illness.

  2. Hi there. You do not know me, but I have been following your blog pretty much from the beginning. I have wanted to leave comments several times before but couldn't because I did not have a blogger account.

Anyway... I just wanted to let you know that I am praying for your little boy and hoping he fights this with all his might!

I send you and your husband much courage through this ordeal and hope that you will find strength in each other as Evan fights to get better.

Hugs and prayers coming all the way from Europe.
    Love xxx

  3. I haven't met your family either but we are praying. I am a fellow Portland FHM mom. I was awake at 3AM and felt a strong urge to pray for your family. We are praying for complete healing for Evan as well as His peace for all of you.

  4. HI, I just found out about you through BabyCenter's Triplet group. I am praying for you too and hope everything goes smoothly. I know the Great Physician can take care of anything you and your family bring before him. I am praying for healing for little Evan, and for strength and grace for you and your family. Know that people all around the world are praying for you.
